Grassmarket Upcoming CD 'You Are The Ocean'

It is not every day that a music fan has an opportunity play a small part in the CD release of a local artist by contributing funding.  These opportunities usually come with a variety of perks for contributors.  Many of the perks are not available otherwise. 

Rose Cousins provided the opportunity with 'We Have Made A Spark'.  Christina Martin provided the opportunity with 'A House Concert'.  Now Halifax band Grassmarket is providing the opportunity with their third album 'You Are The Ocean', due out later this month. 

Grassmarket has offered the following perks for contributors:

$20 - The Album: A hard copy of You are for the Ocean before everyone else gets it.

$35 - All Albums: An advance copy of You are for the Ocean plus a copy of Port City (2009) plus a digital copy of Waiting! (2007). 

$50 - Three Copies: Three advance copies of You are for the Ocean

$70 - Private Lesson: An advance copy of You are for the Ocean plus a one-hour music lesson from either Dan or Penelope on: banjo (bluegrass/clawhammer), fiddle, mandolin, guitar, or bass (upright or electric).

$100 - Music Just For You: An advance copy of You are for the Ocean and an instrumental tune written just for you (or your loved one, or your enemy who hates good music). You can choose instrumentation (banjo? fiddle? guitar? mandolin?) and style (Cape Breton? Bluegrass? Appalachian? Waltz? Jig?), or leave it up to them. They will  give you an mp3, sheet music, and a high five. Personalized tunes will be delivered within a month--i.e., in time for the holidays.

 $800 - House Concert: An advance copy of You are for the Ocean plus a house concert by Grassmarket at your house!* Grassmarket in your living room playing for all your friends! Around two hours of total bliss. ** *If you live in the Maritimes! If not, they will need to figure out travel and accommodation. 

With 11 days remaining, Grassmarket is a mere $220 away from their fundraising goal.  You can contribute to 'You are for the Ocean' here. 

Grassmarket will also be on tour following the release of 'You are for the Ocean'.  Tour dates are as follows:

November 24: The Company House, 8 p.m. w/ Matt Hornell and Dark for Dark

November 29: Fables in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia

November 30: House concert in Sackville, New Brunswick

December 7: Lane's Privateer Inn, w/ Dana Beeler, Liverpool, Nova Scotia,

December 8: Broad Cove Hall w/ Dana Beeler and Dark for Dark, Riverport, Nova Scotia

December 14: House concert with The Modern Grass, Sydney, Nova Scotia

December 15: TBA with The Modern Grass in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia

February 16: Mermaid Theatre with The Modern Grass, Windsor, Nova Scotia
